Maths Expo 2025

This week, our class had the opportunity to take part in the Homai School Maths Expo 2025, and it was a wonderful two days of excitement, discovery, and hands-on learning. As soon as we arrived, the students were buzzing with curiosity, eager to explore the different activities set up around the hall.

Our tamariki enjoyed a wide range of stations, including Guess How Many, Estimation, Tangram Challenges, Measurement Tasks, and Shape Building Activities. It was fantastic to see them working together, sharing ideas, and using their maths knowledge in real and meaningful ways.

Throughout the Expo, many students commented on how much fun they were having. They especially loved challenges where they could build, solve puzzles, and test their thinking. For many of them, it was a moment to realise that

Maths isn’t just worksheets — it can be active, creative, and exciting.

I was proud to see their confidence grow with each activity. Students encouraged one another, celebrated each other’s successes, and showed great perseverance when tasks became tricky. Their teamwork, focus, and enthusiasm made the experience even more special.

A huge thank you to all the staff who helped prepare, organise, and run the Expo. Our class had an amazing time, and the learning that took place was truly valuable.

We are already looking forward to next year’s Maths Expo!
