This week, we dove into Niue Language Week (Faahi Tapu he Vagahau Niue), with the theme

“Fakatapunu, Ofania, mo e Fakaaoga e Vagahau Niue!” — “Elevate, Cherish, and Use Vagahau Niue!”

Monday: Flag Raising Ceremony
We began the week with a special flag-raising event. It was a powerful way to honour Vagahau Niue and celebrate the start of the week together as a school.

School-wide Challenge: Making Niuean Spears
Each class took part in a creative challenge — designing and making their own Niuean spear. Students learned about the meaning and history behind the spear, explored traditional designs, and worked together to bring their ideas to life.

Throughout the week, we explored Niuean culture through language, art, music, and stories. It was inspiring to see everyone elevate the language, cherish its beauty, and use it proudly in class and around the school.
